FREYJA





FRIGGA and FREYJA, new commission. The wood is rowan and the finish is wax. The figures are 10" high. FRIGGA is the Norse goddess of marriage and domesticity. She wears the crescent moon and carries a distaff, symbol of the weaver of Fate. FREYJA is the Northern goddess of love, sex and magic. She wears the Brising torc and bears a cat (her symbol) in her arms.




NJÖRĐR, Vanir Lord of Coastal and Inland Waters, father of Freyja and Freyr. He bears a trident, is accompanied by a seagull and has the symbol of the sacred galley on his robe, later to become the emblem of the Norse Scottish Lords of the Isles.




DANU agus BRIGHID, Goddesses of the Gaelic Celts. Danu on the right, mother of the gods, after whom major rivers are named, including the Danube and the Don. And on the left, her daughter Brighid, goddess of poetry, druidry, smithcraft and battle. See Thormod's Blog page for more photos.
